I am anxiously awaiting the weekend, and looking forward to some retail therapy. Getting myself a little something special always brings me happiness, how about you? Please note, I’m not suggesting I try to buy myself happiness. But if I’m buying myself clothes, for instance, I feel good when I’m wearing something new! As long as we’re practical with our purchases and not putting our financial futures in jeopardy, why not a little retail therapy?
I am very calculated about how and when I shop. I have usually spent hours researching online what I want and how much I’m willing to spend for it. I try to wait patiently until I’ve saved enough so that my pocketbook won’t even know what hit it. The excitement it brings when you finally purchase what you’ve been eyeing is much more thrilling to me then going out and spending money haphazardly…which is exactly what has given “retail therapy” a negative connotation.
My motto is always quality over quantity. When I was in my twenty’s and on a strict budget I wasn’t as picky about quality. Now that I’ve crossed over to the other side (my 30’s!) and I don’t have to be so strict, I want to be smart about what I invest in. Yes, you can invest in clothes! You can invest in practical pieces that will last for years to come. Right now I am on the hunt for the perfect trench coat. I have been planning on purchasing a quality trench for a while and have saved accordingly…now I’m ready to pounce. ;o )
I’m going to be posting about my hunt for this trench coat soon. I also have a few other bloggers that I want to share with you who have unique ideas about putting together a wardrobe and exactly how to go about it.
I know it’s cliché, but when you look good - you feel good. I also believe you shouldn’t worry about what other peoples ideas of style are. If you like it, you wear it…and feel fabulous! It doesn’t matter your dress size, or your budget. All that matters is you feel good and you are happy.
More to come!
Much love, Torrie
