Together each week, let’s
focus on character qualities. You can
reconnect here each morning to remind yourself of the particular quality we’re focusing
on for the week. Try to apply it to your
daily life at home, at work, and wherever else life takes you. Perhaps you can discuss the qualities with
your family over breakfast and then reconvene during supper to discuss how you
applied it to specific situations throughout the day. Don’t leave out the little ones! The sooner you work with them on their
character the better! We want to bless
their young lives. Having strong
character qualities established in them while they’re young can protect them
from hardships and heartache in the future.

Wisdom vs. Natural Inclinations
Seeing & responding to life situations from God’s frame of reference.
Definition of wisdom:
- the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise
- the soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of such experience, knowledge, and good judgment
Scripture regarding wisdom:
Proverbs 9:10
Wisdom begins with fear and respect for the Lord. Knowledge of the Holy One leads to understanding.
Proverbs
10:23
Fools enjoy doing wrong, but the wise enjoy
wisdom.
Ephesians
5:15-17
So be very careful how you live. Live wisely,
not like fools. I mean that you should use every opportunity you
have for doing good, because these are evil times. So don’t be foolish with your
lives, but learn what the Lord wants you to do.
James 3:17
But the wisdom that comes from God is like this: First, it is
pure. It is also peaceful, gentle, and easy to please. This wisdom is always
ready to help people who have trouble and to do good for others. This wisdom is
always fair and honest.
Ecclesiastes
8:1
Only the wise know what things really mean. Wisdom makes them
smile and makes their frowns disappear.
Proverbs
17:27-28
Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool
spirit is a man of understanding. Even a fool who keeps silent is
considered wise; when he closes
his lips, he is deemed intelligent.
